When deciding how to accurately combat Imposter Syndrome in teens, we created a poll to better understand how imposter syndrome affects students and to shed light on just how common these feelings of self-doubt really are. By gathering data directly from students, we can identify patterns, challenges, and the best ways to offer support.
Based on the results from our poll, we gathered insightful data on how Imposter Syndrome affects the lives of teens. From this poll, we learned that a staggering percentage of respondents experience self-doubt, feelings of unworthiness, and fear of being exposed as a fraud, even when they have earned their achievements. These statistics shed light on the significant impact Imposter Syndrome has on teens, influencing their confidence, academic performance, and mental well-being.
Before we break down how this data impacted our campaigns, lets highlight some key percentages that illustrate just how widespread this issue is among teens today.
83.4%
AND
80.1%
of students doubt feel pressure to meet extremely high expectations
of students doubt their achievements at least sometimes
How did this affect our campaign?
The poll showed that the majority of teens thought that what would help them the most in helping them or others overcome Imposter Syndrome was learning more through social media and practicing self confidence.
Because of this, we centered our campaign around our Instagram and Tiktok posts, while also hosting events where we could also reach people. In order to help people practice self confidence, we created the I.M.P.O.S.T.E.R campaign which encouraged students to engage in mindful activities each day that work to promote self confidence and ease the fears of being an "imposter".
